A True Story

Not too long ago in the not-so-distant past, I was making my way across the parking lot and into Big Lots (which, in this town, is found as a part of a shopping strip). On my way into the store, I noticed a vehicle with its lights on. Being the good citizen that I am, I decided to do my small part to inform the owner. What follows is an actual account of the conversation that I had as a result. The involved parties are the random worker who happened to be the first worker whom I saw upon walking into Big Lots (from henceforth known as RW) and me.

Me (to RW): Ummm excuse me...?
RW: *really annoyed and disgusted look*
Me: Ummm... I was wondering if you had any sort of speaker system or anything in the store for making announcements.
RW: *slightly blank really annoyed and disgusted look*
Me: Well, you see, the reason that I was wondering is that there's a black Honda out there with its lights on, and I thought maybe you could announce it in case they're in the store.
RW: Just because they're parked in the parking lot doesn't mean they're in the store.
Me: Ummm... *slightly stunned look*
RW: You see, there are lots of other stores around, they could be in one of those.
Me: Uhhh... yeah, I guess that's true...
RW: *Supreme look of Superiority before turning her back on me*
Me: Ok, well, thanks.

The End

And yes, I do tend to use "ummm" a lot when I'm in a situation involving people whom I don't know.

Obviously "RW" isn't paid enough to care about anything in her job.

ummmmmm...I hope later on RW realized it was her own car!

People like that need not be working with the public. End of story.

How RUDE!!!! That was incredible. REmind me never to go there for customer service, it ain't gonna happen.

Thank you for coming over to visit me on the layover from BATW. I loved you comment and so agree what a great world it would be if we all did better.

I am so glad that a random worker could set you straight. Imagine how RW helped all the people inside the Big Lots. If they made an announcement. And all those people panicked. And thought for just a second that they had a black Honda. Could have cause a massed exodus.

that sounds like a really intelligent person....

You know it is really sad that so many people just don't care, or or plain rude, or are just mad at the world!! Now how hard would it have been to take a minute out of their busy (said with much sarcasm) job to say "There is a black Honda with the lights on in the parking lot". Duh...that was hard......

That is pretty rude. It seems that most people do not care anymore.

I cannot stand people like RW. Why do they hate life so much to be so mean to people?

Maybe RW should work somewhere that they will not have to communicate with people...

So sorry that she was so hateful!

Oh my gosh, what a jerk. I would have asked to speak to the manager. Ok, well...I would have bugged my husband to ask to speak to the manager. (I am famously anti-confrontational, lol)

Hope RW doesn't ever leave his lights on in the parking lot. What goes around comes around right?

Oh goodness. I love that people like that who have no regard for people whatsoever decide to get a job that involves working with people.

Frustrating.

But at least your heart was in the right place.

Visiting via BATW; what a horrifying story! I hate when I get clerks who are such jerks. It's one thing if it's some kid who doesn't know better, but an adult needs to get over themself!

I don't undestand why people have to be so rude. What does it take for them to have some sense of common courtesy. Let's just say, what goes around comes around...and the next time it will be RW's car whose lights are left on!

PS. Your post is up on BATW!

Girl those handbags are fabulous. Wish I could hang out with you and craft some time. Those little stinkers of yours...I can't believe they ate your card. I'm visiting from BATW and sending you a big Texas hug. Hope your getting this nice--not-as-humid weather like we are in Houston, the mosquitos are horrible since Ike came thru. Yikes!

Oh no. Please tell me you let RW have it! I'm so over the poor attitudes that service people have in today's society.

I love your purse tutorial! I'll be back to check your blog out!

But I thought Southerners were supposed to be nice!

Very cute handbags, girl :) Unfortunately, from the moment I saw the word, "craft," I was completely lost. I think it's a genetic weakness of some sort.

Loved your guest post!! Oh and about RW, that's just plain sad. Maybe God will bless this person. Who knows what's going on his/her life. Sometimes I get mad at these people who are plainly so rude. But other times I try to be understanding. Sorry you had to be on the other end of it. ((hugs))
